James 1:27 This is pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father, to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.


Matthew 25:45 "Then He will answer them, saying, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.'  "And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

As you can see helping the poor and needy is very important to Jesus. In fact it is so important that Jesus says that whoever ignores the poor ignores him, and whoever ignores him will go away into eternal punishment!

Luke 10:16

“Whoever listens to you listens to me; whoever rejects you rejects me; but whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me.”

Whoever rejects Jesus not only rejects him, but he rejects God as well!
