One third of Kenya's 43M people live in rural Kenya. In rural Kenya the unemployment rate is 65%, and only 30% of the people have adequate sanitation, which leaves the 70% in search of clean water, and shelter.
In Kenya there is very little safe water available, most families get their water from dirt ponds or contaminated rivers. Families there are usually very large, it isn't uncommon to have 10 people in a one room mud hut.
AIDS is a big deal in Kenya, a lot of children have lost one or both parents to the disease. Mal-nutrition is a part of life there, so many children die a day just from that alone.
