Through The Looking Glass

Let's take a minute to look through a different set of glasses and think about what it's like to live in a developing country. Imagine that your are in a desolate country without electricity, plumbing, or any of the luxuries we have here in America. All you have is an old tin shack, with an old roof that can barely keep the rain out. Much like this one:

           

You don't go to school, you don't know who your father was, and you don't have any hope. In order to help provide for the family you work, sometimes you go through garbage looking for things to sell, and your only eight. Your mother is gone working during the day, just so she can provide enough food to keep the family alive.

You don't have clean water, or anything clean really, all you have to play with is the corn husk doll that you made.

Imagine living that your whole entire life, except when you grow up your the single mother taking care of three children, working as a laborer twelve hours a day, and the most you'd make is two dollars a day.

People live in these conditions, and people die in these conditions, poverty doesn't play fair. Children die, babies die, adults die. You might die of old age, or you might die of a terrible disease like Malaria, or Dengue Fever.

But this sad story doesn't have to continue this way, you can put an end to all this hopelessness! With Compassion International, sponsoring a child doesn't just mean giving money to them. It means having a pen-pal relationship with them, giving them an education, and a reason to fight!
